About me

Greetings!  I'm so glad you've stopped by my blog!
I am a teacher with 15 years of experience.  I taught first and second grades during my 15 years in the classroom.  I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 10 years and we have two children.  Suri is 7 and is the most incredible social butterfly.  She knows people in the neighborhood that I don't know.  Levi is 3 and loves anything involving motorcycles and construction vehicles.  He also is learning that he has a sense of humor and is really good at making us laugh.  We are currently living in the Bahamas for 2 years for my husband's job.  I am staying at home for these two years with Levi and am fully enjoying my "promotion" to full-time momma.
When I'm not busy doing momma stuff I enjoy teaching a preschool story hour for the preschool age kiddos in our neighborhood, reading on my Kindle Fire, swimming in our community pool, serving in the toddler room at our church, and going to the beach with my family.

  1. also, you said to email you for more ideas, but I don't see that option anywhere. Can you email me? I'd love more and more intervention tips! deshawtammy@gmail.com

  2. It was a pleasure to read your blog Joya and I have a few of those jellybeans that are hopping all over the place. It is always an enlightenment to get informational strategies to help the teachers and parents in that area. My email is Maryduhart7@gmail.com. I would love to learn more.

  3. You live in the Bahamas? I am so jealous! I live in northern Minnesota and it is COLD COLD COLD here already this winter. It sounds like you have a huge heart for the kiddos at church and I can see why Levi LOVES when his mommy comes to his room. How sweet. I hope that you have a wonderful week and thank you for linking up with us this week!

  4. I just came across your blog as I was looking up some junkanoo craft ideas for summer camp down here in the Bahamas! Do you still live down here?

    1. Hi Chantelle,
Sadly we moved back home to the US in December. We sure do miss it though! Did you find some great junkanoo ideas? I can suggest a fun one we did at the junkanoo museum.
      Joya :)
