Remember back during my daughter's Fall break how we had a trip planned to Blue Lagoon Island? That trip was cancelled due to my husband hurting his back. So my husband had a 4 day weekend this past weekend and we learned that Blue Lagoon was having a special Halloween event price and fun Halloween themed activities at the island all day. So off we went...
When you head out to Blue Lagoon Island for the day you start on Paradise Island (where Atlantis is located). You ride a big boat from Paradise Island out to Blue Lagoon Island.
The boat ride takes about 20-25 minutes. You get to cruise by the homes of the rich and famous on Paradise Island...Oprah, Beyonce and Jay-Z, Tom Cruise, to name a few...
When you get there you have to make a beeline for chairs in the shade. Otherwise you are in the sun all day and you get fried! Blue Lagoon is just that... a protected lagoon. They have a beach area and also an inflatable area. Think "Wipe out" from tv. That's what it feels like trying to climb on these things.
They also feed you a really good lunch. Hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, or chicken. Lots of yummy sides and cookies to go with it. My kids love the hot dogs. I'm a fan of the grilled chicken. It's nice because all you have to bring is your sunscreen and towels. No need to schlep along a cooler and snacks. They have a snacks/drinks bar where you can get drinks and snacks all day long. No trip to Blue Lagoon is complete without a pina colada! :)
My son loves to play in the sand. The temps have dropped here and so the water is a little cooler and it was a windy day. My kids didn't spend all day in the water like they normally do. They have a bounce park with wet bouncy slides and bouncy houses. This was their favorite part on this trip. Late in the afternoon my daughter found an empty hammock to catch a short snooze in.
We decided to take the 4 pm boat back. As we were lining up I caught this photo. I love how the late afternoon sun makes the water look like it's sparkling.
We had such a fun day. We ended up grabbing dinner at Johnny Rockets and had ice cream afterwards. The kids were exhausted and we were afraid that if we went home to eat they'd fall asleep on the way home and then be up for hours once we got home. Good news! It worked. They went to bed when we got home and slept through the night until 7:30 the next morning!
Who's coming to visit??
